Class 2 Licensing Course

WHAT THIS COURSE GIVES YOU

Licence to operate a heavy rigid vehicle with a gross laden weight (GLW) of between 6,000kg to 18,000kg OR

A combination vehicle with a Gross Combination Weight (GCW) of 12,000kg or less.

COURSE PREREQUISITES

The participant must already hold a full Class 1 License for six months prior to completing this course. The participant will need to present a driver’s medical certificate from their doctor when applying for their Class 2 Learners License.

COURSE CONTENT

The course consists of two days of theory, training and assessment in a Class 2 vehicle.

The content incorporates:

Learner Licence study session to obtain learner licence (optional)

Logbook study and assessment (Unit Standard 24089)

Class 2 theory study and assessment (Unit Standard 17574)

Practical training and assessment in a Class 2 vehicle

AFTER SUCCESSFULLY PASSING THE COURSE

Successful trainees will be credited with Unit Standards 17574 and 24089 to their NZQA Record of Learning in addition to receiving the course certificate.

CLASS 2 LICENSE COURSE COST

Full training including learners study session and logbook unit $1150. 

If trainee already holds Class 2 learners license, $1000.

HOW TO GET YOUR CLASS 2 ENDORSED ON YOUR LICENCE AFTER SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE COURSE

Present your NZTA course certificate provided by Central Lakes Licensing to a licensing
agent (AA or VTNZ), and they will assist you in applying to have your license amended to include your new full class 2 license (fees apply).

You are NOT licenced to drive a class 2 vehicle unsupervised on the road until you have your full Class 2 License endorsed on your Driver Licence.

HOW TO PROGRESS YOUR LICENCE TO CLASS 3 OR 4

To progress your licence class further from this point, contact us again in three months time if you are over 25 years or six months time if you are under 25 years to book for a class 3 or 4 Licensing course.
